6 Week Encouraging Class Lesson 4: Adjusting For Your Daily Reality

Hello, Cynthia Ann Leighton here.

Welcome to Lesson 4 of the 6 Week Encouraging class, How to Encourage Yourself to Keep Moving Forward.

Hey, I was wondering… There’s a surprise after Lesson 6. What would be best about that surprise if you could say what you wish it would be? Please do reply to one of my emails this week sharing your insights… Who knows, maybe you might be surprised to find that perhaps I can add some small aspect of that just in time for you!!

How do I adjust for day-to-day realities?

Choose this not that [14 minutes, 52 seconds]

This will show you how to think about what matters.

How do you adapt to adversity?

Encourage yourself [10 minutes, 47 seconds]

This will show you how to get through adversity.

What really is the #1 thing?

Innovation [1 minute, 29 seconds]

This will show you how to let your #1 thing be what it is.

Homework assignment:

Step 1. Recognize

Recognize that the jottings you’re doing are research.

Research takes time to deliver results.

Step 2. Do

Do the daily bedtime jottings!

Up arrow with 1 to 3 positives. Down arrow with 1 that’s not so much.

Keep it brief. If 1 word feels sufficient for each simply write that 1.

Step 3. Right Now

Read these:

Covey’s Time Management Grid | US Government  document quoting  Stephen Covey, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

This will show you how to make room in your life for what’s important to you. Urgent vs. Important? Yup, I’ve been kind of doing this part for a while. Here goes, I dug into the bottom of one of my bookshelves to pull these three out for you to add to your reading list for someday: (1) The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (1989), (2) First Things First (1994), (3) The 8th Habit (2004)… all by Stephen R. Covey and all likely accessible to you via your local neighborhood library.

Warren Buffett’s 5-Step Process for Prioritizing True Success (and Why Most People Never Do It) | Live Your Legend blog post

Indeed! Knowing what to do and what to avoid allows us to encourage ourselves to keep moving forward

Step 4. And Now?

Watch these YouTubes:

The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale [3 minutes, 17 seconds]

This will show you how to put success into your life despite any day-to-day realities or adversity.

How To Be Consistent: 5 Steps To Get Things Done, All The Time | Marie Forleo [6 minutes, 53 seconds]

This will show you how to be consistent, including picking yourself back up again and getting restarted.

Jim Rohn – How to have Your Best Year Ever [3 minutes, 50 seconds]

This will show you how to be more valuable.
